Lakeland Surgical & Diagnostic Center, LLP (LSDC) has been serving Central Florida since April 1996. Since this time we have become one of the largest free-standing Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) in the state of Florida. We perform more than 21,000 procedures annually.
We offer multispecialty care at our two same-day surgery locations. The Florida Avenue facility consists of four operating rooms and five gastroenterology rooms, where we perform colonoscopies and other GI procedures. Our Griffin Road facility has a more intimate setting, consisting of two operating rooms and one exam room.
As an organization, we are focused on patient satisfaction, quality improvement and safety and infection prevention. Our commitment is reflected through the following:
- We have received the Attributes for Patient Excellence (APEX) Quality Award seven times for the Florida Avenue Facility and five for the Griffin Road Facility. The APEX award is solely based on feedback given by patients and is one of the most prestigious patient satisfaction awards in the healthcare industry. As an organization, we take pride in our patients and their families having a positive experience while visiting our facilities.
- We participate in the quality outcomes monitoring project through the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) and Quality Measures reporting through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Also, our management team meets each quarter to review internal benchmarking. We are always striving to learn and improve.
- In 2010, our facility received the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) award. This award recognizes the development and application of innovative infection prevention programs. We have continued to maintain our strong infection prevention program with an infection rate of less than 1%.
- Our ASC has maintained accreditation through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) since 2001. This survey is conducted every three years and is a sign that a healthcare organization meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards.
