Dr. Douglas A. Shenkman is an orthopedic surgeon with Watson Clinic. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery and is one of a select group of U.S. physicians with fellowship training and board certification in sports medicine. Dr. Shenkman performs both surgical and nonsurgical procedures. These include ACL reconstruction, minimally invasive joint reconstruction, fracture care, arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, wrist, elbow knee and ankle, and other orthopedic surgeries. He also advises patients in the areas of sports medicine, physical therapy and injury prevention. He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then graduated with a medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Shenkman completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio and received additional fellowship training in sports medicine in Orlando, FL. In addition to working closely with the NBA, Major League Baseball, NFL and college athletes, Dr. Shenkman has also served as chairman for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Lakeland Regional Health and on the board of the Eastern Orthopaedic Association.
